Freestyle Publications was officially established in July 2008 by journalist and writer Lorraine Day, who was inspired to keep alive as many stories of Australia’s early achievers and important historical milestones as possible following 10 years living in the Northern Territory.

During this time she spent six months writing for the Darwin Advertiser then nearly three years with the NT News, before freelancing, writing a regular column in the NT News for the Northern Territory Department of Industries and Development, and several other clients including Henry Walker Limited.
Having grown up in Victoria, Lorraine spent time travelling through Mildura via Adelaide, to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Ross River, then on to Darwin via Katherine, before returning to Portland and finally South Australia, always enchanted by the history of her surroundings.
Special interests include shipping, aviation, transport, horses, environment, horticulture and all things rural and outback, as well as being a supporter of the History Trust of South Australia, the State Library of South Australia and the Yankalilla Historical Society.
